Launched on a healthy mountain peak, by Lt.B.S.Ward, a British Army Officer and Surveyor, in the early 1820s, Kodaikanal today stands as one of the Spectacular Vacation-Spots in the International Tourist Map. This Pollution-Free town, spread over a less busy area experiences a cool temperature that falls from 20 - 11 C in Summer and 16 – 8 C during the remaining months. At an altitude of about 2100 m (7000-ft) above sea–level, Kodai attracts thousands of foreigners with her beauty that comprises of floral parks, waterfalls, clubs, peaks, lakes and of course, the best place for school education with environments designed by early missionaries.
